Applications
NOTE: Prepare all surfaces well
Make sure that surfaces are clean and dry when applying Stirobond.
General Use
General Ratios:
- Recommended ratios — 5:1 or 3:1
- Definetly not 10:1
Undiluted Application:
- 1lt covers 5 sq metres
- 5lt covers 25 sq metres
Depending on intended use, strength of product — best application is 3:1
Adhesive
For wood, paper, cardboard, ceramics apply Stirobond undiluted to both surfaces and clamp together until dry.
Concrete
Skimming and Screeding
Seal surface by applying 1 coat of Stirobond thinned with 3 parts water. Allow to dry. Apply second coat of Stirobond thinned with 2 parts water. When tacky apply cement plaster or cretestone. To further adhesion of plater, mix 5 litres of Stirobond to each pocket of cement or cretestone.
Bonding and Filling Cracks
First coat each surface with Stirobond thinned with 3 parts of water. Mix to a paste a solution of Stirobond thinned with 2 parts of water, 2 parts cement and 2 parts of fine sand. Apply to both surfaces and press together when bonding.
Cement Additive
Mix 5 litres of Stirobond to each pocket of cement. Stirobond greatly increases the adhesion and strength of concrete. It creates a waterproof, tough, hard-wearing, dust free surface as well as increasing the resistance to acids and alkaline substances.
Great for concrete ceilings, concrete beams any concrete columns and floors, can help fix a poor-quality finish and prevent damage.
Sealing cretestone and other contrete pavers:
- Dilute 3:1
- 2 coats painted on seals well
When applied on white cement it will give you a protective film covering as a finishing coat.
Walls in older existing houses:
- Add Stirobond to slush 5:1, mortar 3:1
- Plastering ratio — 15 litres out of a 5lt Stirobond (3:1)
Before floors goes down:
- Chip first.
- Cement slush floor and 5:1 slush added.
- Plaster with 5:1 mixed into in plaster or mortar.
Add Stirobond to concrete to strengthen and serve as a waterproofer in a slab.
Existing screeds to be raised:
- Chip floor
- Stirobond slush floor
- Throw new floor over that (it bond well)
Paint and Walls
Used on existing paint, it becomes a film.
Seal walls with minor cracks, you can seal wall with Stirobond and paint over it, helps keep things together.
Mixed into paint to create a strong bond and waterproof paint.
Tiling and Grouting
Stirobond can be used for mosaics etc.
Use as tile grout bonding agent and mix as tile grout adhesive. Mix 1 part Stirobond and 5 parts water to grouting mix.
Waterproofing
Stirobond is an excellent waterproofing agent.
When scheming a wall you want it to look natural apply Stirobond to the wall 2-3 coats for a durable coating.
Wood and Roofing
Paint on wood or chipboard for sealing purposes.
Ultraboard (eves) and outside board:
- Apply as 1st coat primer on surface (mixed 3:1)
- Apply paint over that
Can be used as a clear varnish on skirting boards.
